Hi! I’m Rabbi Marge Wise and I work with prospective Jews by choice throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada, Israel, Australia and Scandinavia, creating a holistic and personalized learning experience for your conversion journey.
I've worked as a professional and and as a volunteer in the Jewish community since my teen years. I've been a Youth Leader/Director, Rebbetzin, Teacher, Judaica and Fine Arts entrepreneur and Synagogue Executive Director. I completed my Rabbinic training and was ordained as a Rabbi in 2021. How does it work?
I most often meet with my students on Zoom so geography is never a barrier – meeting in-person is also an option if you’re in the NY/NJ area. My rates are reasonable and hours are flexible!
The way I work is that the emphasis is on the relationship which I build with each student. If you’re seeking – in a teacher, mentor and friend – the combination of warmth, understanding and an intimate knowledge of the subject, you’ve found the right Rabbi for your needs. Course of Study:
The course of study which I follow includes basic Jewish beliefs and religious practices, Hebrew language, Bible, ethical teachings, the history of the Jewish people, the Jewish home, the Jewish holidays, life cycle events, the Holocaust, Israel, and more.
The period of study is approximately one year but it can vary from person to person. Prior knowledge of Judaism as well as home study will often affect the timetable.
While we are learning together, hopefully you will be able to begin – or to continue, in some cases – participating in a Jewish community which is convenient to your location. Of course, I will offer hands-on help in this area and in every area along the way.
Conversion Ceremony:
The process culminates – however learning never ends! – with immersion in a mikveh, choosing a Jewish name and a pledge to uphold Judaism, but we will discuss all of the details involved in the formal conversion once we’ve embarked on your journey to become Jewish.

It was a blessing in so many ways. We met weekly for about a year and a half and went through Jewish history, customs, holidays and traditions. We discussed and studied the weekly Torah portion and she taught me to read Hebrew with the utmost patience. In between, Rabbi Marge was extremely patient and wonderful, engaged in detail into my many questions and thoughts and was not only a spiritual but also a philosophical teacher and guide on this amazing journey.
I traveled to her synagogue for the conversion ritual itself, was embraced by the warmth of her community, invited to her house for a true Jewish Shabbat dinner with friends.
I will miss our lessons deeply and will continue to stay connected with Rabbi Marge to refine my Hebrew and enjoy her amazing presence!"
